Our History
Since the Eighties
La Quinta was set up in Milan in 1980 by Giuseppe De Vecchi, the then director general of Tescosa S.p.A., which was part of the Fila group. His idea was to create a service company that acted as a connector for the market-industry-brand and designers, a catalyser for everything involved with the world of fashion and design.
Prestigious clients such as Charles Jourdan, Celine and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac were quick to commission La Quinta with development of their labels. Very soon, the company’s results brought it to the attention of Italian and international fashion houses and it created a design division, which hired a qualified team of selected young talents, and a licensing division, which in a very short time was overseeing development of ambitious international projects.
1984 was an important milestone thanks to collaboration with the Philip Morris group, for which La Quinta designed and managed launch of the Marlboro brand of casualwear.
In the same period, it was working to expand its international scope. It opened its first branch office in Tokyo and gained a whole new area of expertise: industrial design. Tokyo marked the start of big projects with multinationals and development of a solid capillary presence on the various continents with direct offices and/or desks.
La Quinta gradually extended its business to complementary sectors, developing divisions with specific tasks and creating a structure able to provide a complete consultancy service for its reference sectors.
In September 2018 the Gnerro family from Biella, backed by years of experience in this business sector and already in a consolidated professional relationship with La Quinta, bought out the company’s shares. The aim was to kickstart the business by merging reciprocal experiences.
